Are you suffering from burn-out, rest alone is not sufficient to recover – other actions are needed. What the action are may differ from person to person, but the actions that help most people are:

  • sick leave
  • better sleeping habits
  • healthy diet
  • activity adjustment

Sick leave

You have to take sick leave. If you continue to push yourself, it will only get worse and you need longer time to recover.

   

Sleep

Poor sleep is common among people that are suffering from burn-out. Sick leave will in some cases be sufficient to calm the body down. But usually concrete actions and changes are needed to improve sleep. Professional help might be necessary. Be careful with medicine. Due to at the body is weak; medication can have negative effect on the body’s general state.

  

Healthy diet

Eating healthy, more varied diet will help your body recover more quickly.

  

Activity adjustment

To recover from burn-out, you have to stop using too much of your resources and energy. Adjust your activities to the amount of energy you have. Look at it as a payment in the "Bank of Energy" – where you gradually increase your energy deposit.

   

     

There are several other actions that can contribute positive:

  • Physiotherapy and massage: During burn-out many may get tense muscles – especially in shoulders and neck. Massage will help loosen them, and this will lead to better circulation of the blood, you use less energy, you get more relaxed and this again leads to better sleep
  • Psychotherapy: There are several reasons for burning out. Some people burn-out because they don’t realize that the human body has limits. With burnout, they really learn this the hard way. At other times, the cause for burn-out is more hidden and help by a psychologist is needed
  • Acupuncture: Chinese medicine can help. Acupuncture is especially effective for recovering your energy
  • Medical treatment: The prolonged wear and tear on you body can result in different sufferings and diseases that need medical attention, for instance diabetes. Therefore, always go to the doctor for a thorough check up
